Leaves Fall

Leaves Fall

in a lush meadow
trees surround
leaves fall
spiraling in the wind
circling the grass
until they scatter, fall
birds flying by
swooping down
catching things
flying back to trees
tangling a nest
still the leaves fall
until there are no more
walking on a fall day
you’ll hear them crunch
this is the sound
the sound the leaves make
when they cease to fall.
